It all started when…

What if care was considered a craft? One that could be played with, practiced and honed?

OUR CRAFT OF CARE Is a a curatorial project that will unfold over the next 2 years in collaboration with Room Project, uplifting artists whose practices include restorative and regenerative art making, care work and ritual. This project’s intention is to articulate the reciprocity between Detroit’s human and non-human ecological community by examining the ways in which we express care for eachother. How it has led us through, how it is woven into our ways of being together. A visioning of how care will continue to lead us toward a more reciprocal future.

FIlm photos of WIllow trees along the shore of the Detroit River double exposed with images of daffodil flowers

This is a grief alchemy practice that I make with the support of willow trees and fire. I show gratitude to these beings for helping me move through this ritual and heal by offering seeds during my harvests of the willow branches. These images are an archive of the experience, documenting the trees in the winter double exposed with the daffodils that have emerged in the spring. As I attempt to align my practice more to process than product, I have used film photography as a tool to archive my wandering and foraging practice.
